Still building a better world together... 🌎

Welcome!

So many COOL experiences have taken place since our last newsletter! We had our 15th Annual Celebration of Learning, celebrated birthdays, said "until next time" to our 2nd thru 5th graders, experienced Week in the Wild and so much more.  Continue reading to learn more!

15th Annual Celebration of Learning

After five weeks of hard work and dedication, we were so excited to showcase our 15th Annual Celebration of Learning! Each grade band shared awesome presentations including poems, singing, skits and speeches. But it didn't stop there. After the program, we relocated downstairs and were wowed even more by the Community Fair which embodied astounding artwork, a full display of Career Pathways My Pathway exhibits, informative nature projects and special presentations. Refreshments were served also.

Thanks again to everyone who attended our celebration and contributed to making it a success!
We couldn't have done it without you.

Chess, Connect 4 & Checkers Tournament

Competition was really serious during our Chess, Connect 4 and Checkers tournament. Congratulations again to Badger, Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Oriole, Red Winged Black Bird, Bobcat and Carlos on your championships! All winners were awarded a gift card to Dockside Ice Cream. Yummy!

STEAM
Candle Making

Everyone lined up with great anticipation as we explored the Art & Science of candle making.  After reviewing safety protocols, we enjoyed smelling various fragrance oils, learned how to and made our own candles from A to Z all while using 100% natural ingredients.  A few final steps later and we were able to take our wonderful creations home to enjoy!

More COOL experiences!

We visited the College of Lake County, which was very insightful as it's never too early to start preparing for college. We also enjoyed making bird feeders at Brushwood Nature Center, playing tennis and our last day at Waukegan Beach was just right!

Week in the Wild!!

What was the Week in the Wild like? There was lots of fun while getting a definite experience of the wild on this trip. We had comforts like delicious meals and hot showers. We were also out in nature each day facing the elements as we explored the forest and wetlands, practiced survival skills, built fires, learned archery and canoeing, and cooked our own meals. We slept outdoors in tents serenaded by the night sounds of nature. It was always awesome.

Nature Buddy Quotes:

"I'm proud of fileting a fish. It was awesome!"
"Going out in the wild helped me to face some of my fears."
" I was most proud of making a campfire."
"Canoeing down the river was a great adventure!"
