Save the date for the next installment of LIGHTS! CAMERA! TAKE ACTION!!, a new film and community conversation series, at the College of Lake County Lakeshore Campus. The program is a collaboration between Cool Learning Experience, Brushwood Center, and College of Lake County with award-winning documentary filmmaker Emmett Williams. The second event of this three-part series will focus on solutions to food insecurity in Lake County. The evening includes a screening of two short films focused on local food justice solutions. Food Justice addresses questions of agricultural practices, distribution of technology and resources, workers' rights, and the historical injustices communities of color have faced.

The panel discussion will be moderated by activist David Toledo of Contemporary Farmer and include the following speakers: Demetrius Willis, Dietitian; Meryl Fury, Plant Based Nutrition Movement; Eliza Fournier, College of Lake County; Linda Belles, Greentown Grows. The event will also feature resources and demos with Mindful Waste, SWALCO, Plant Based Nutrition Movement, Waukegan Public Library, Greentown Grows, Cool Learning Experience, and Brushwood Center.

More About Emmett Williams
After a decade in television, award winning producer, writer and multimedia artist Emmett Williams started Mission Man Media, a company that has produced dozens of inspiring educational documentaries, web series, and short films around the world. He has told the story of grieving mothers who lost their sons in Brazil, produced a web series about climate change in African nations, portrayed threatened fishing communities in Alaska, documented illegal logging in the Amazon, created a Black Lives Matter web series, been part of large- scale art performances in Europe, and filmed protests from Standing Rock to Washington, DC. College of Lake County - Lakeshore (CLC-L) is partnering with LCTA to provide space each month. The College of Lake County provides equitable high-quality education, cultural enrichment, and partnerships to advance the diverse communities it serves. LCTA is another example of how Brushwood Center works collaboratively with community partners, artists, health care providers, and scientists to improve health equity and access to nature in Lake County, Illinois, and the Chicago region.  

LIGHTS! CAMERA! TAKE ACTION!! is designed to empower citizens with tools to become more active and engaged within their community. Screening at the campus of College of Lake County - Lakeshore: the evening program series consists of a film screening connected to an issue impacting Lake County, Q&A and a panel discussion with local activists and community leaders and finally audience members sharing how to become more civically engaged in their community. 

The last LIGHTS! CAMERA! TAKE ACTION!! event will be held on November 18 on the campus of CLC - Lakeshore.
